I am dedicated to providing a compassionate and professional service, tailoring my approach to you and your specific needs. We will work together to understand your emotional and psychological difficulties and together we can move towards increased resilience and moving forward with your psychological well-being. I will help you to overcome feelings of anxiety, depression and other negative emotions which may be keeping you feeling lost or stuck. The therapies I particularly value are those which acknowledge the relationship between difficult life experiences and mental health problems. Understanding and addressing the effects of the past has been the most effective way of enabling long-lasting change for the people I have helped.
I am fully trained as an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist which means I use a variety of different approaches, drawing on what feels most helpful for you. I am dedicated to providing compassion therapy in a safe environment which is free from judgement to anyone that needs it. I work relationally and collaboratively, focusing on you and helping you gain insight into your past and present. I will support and guide you while you work towards future change by providing new perspectives, understanding and clarity. My experience involves childhood trauma, sexual abuse, grief, in particular baby loss, birth trauma, depression, anxiety, self esteem and more. I also specialise in working with families struggling will all aspects of parenting and raising children.
I work with clients on both a long and short term basis and this is something we can discuss and agree at our initial assessment.
No matter what your situation or presenting issues, I am able to offer help and support. Additionally, I specialise in helping clients work through the trauma of their experiences, in the following areas:
Sexual abuse
My work with survivors of childhood sexual abuse has given me a deep understanding of the devastating affects this type of trauma has on the lives of survivors. With a compassionate approach, together we can start to safely process the trauma, re-establish feelings of safety and trust and improve your mental well-being.
Sexual Offending
I have been in training with STOPSO and I am trained to deliver the COFRA 121 therapeutic rehabilitation programme for managing sexual risk. I offer therapy for anyone who is at risk of committing a sexual offence or re-offending and who want support to remain law abiding. I also offer therapy to support family members of those who have committed a sexual offence.
Perinatal mental health
Emotional problems can arise in pregnancy, birth and when baby is here. I am experienced in working with women to improve perinatal well-being such as high risk anxious pregnancy, stillbirth, multiple losses, traumatic births, failure to bond and postnatal depression.
Children and Families
I am trained in the Solihull approach which is a highly practical way of working with families within a robust theoretical structure of child development and behavioural approaches. The Solihull approach is in partnership with the NHS.
I’m a BABCP accredited CBT therapist which means my practice receives regular supervision. I’m also required to undertake ongoing training in Psychology. The field of mental health is constantly evolving and improving, so it’s important I keep up to date with new developments.
